Sleep Disordered Breathing
Sleep disordered breathing therapy focuses on opening the airway and improving oxygen levels within the body for individuals with snoring or obstructive sleep apnea concerns. By teaching proper tongue resting posture and strengthening the muscles of the oropharynx, a healthier breathing pattern is established during sleep.
Tongue-Tie
Myofunctional therapy is imperative when going through a tongue-tie release, or frenuloplasty, to prevent re-attachment. It strengthens and prepares the tongue for the release and habituates proper tongue posture and functioning patterns after the release.
Tongue Thrust
When a tongue thrust is present, myofunctional therapy focuses on correcting the tongue position during the swallow pattern. An improper tongue position can result in an open bite (either the front or back teeth do not touch upon closing), speech impairments, chronic TMJ or digestive concerns.
Comprehensive Therapy
Most often, clients require a combination of the above therapies as they are all interconnected. Comprehensive Therapy encompasses addressing multiple areas of dysfunction at once.
